2025 – Current: Educational Designer for Accesibility (Edith Cowan University)

  • Support academic staff to understand Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and implement this in their course work and assessments. Supporting staff with this 1:1 as well as in the scope of a university-wide curriculum transformation program
  • Help create learning environments (online and in-person) where all students can thrive – especially those with disabilities, health conditions, or who are neurodivergent
  • Design and deliver training and supporting staff to use UDL teaching/assessment strategies and technologies that make learning fairer, more engaging, and more effective

2012 – Current: Unit Coordinator / Online Learning Advisor / Tutor (Swinburne Online, Murdoch University & CQU)

  • Unit Coordinator and Online Learning Advisor/Tutor for tertiary students studying MTeach and Bachelor of Education. Multiple units supported across primary and secondary teaching qualifications including professional experience placements and literacy
  • Tutor – Certificate of Learning and Teaching (Staff). These courses are accredited by AdvanceHE (formerly the Higher Education Academy) and, as a result, Murdoch University staff who successfully complete the course will be awarded the Associate Fellowship of HEA (AFHEA) which is a globally recognised post-nominal award for those who teach or support learning in the higher education sector.  My role as a tutor is to support the delivery of the 21 hours of mandatory in-person workshops, complete observations of practice for participants and mark the three mandated assessments. 
  • Interacting with online students using email, Canvas LMS and Moodle to ensure they are engaged. Design high quality online learning materials including: PowToons, interactive PowerPoints, Collaborate/Teams sessions and video recordings
  • Marking, evaluating, and providing detailed feedback on assessments to assist students with development. Leading moderation process to make informed judgements

2024 – 2025: RHD Student Mentor (CQU)

  • As the face of research higher degree life, I welcome and share my knowledge with fellow RHD students. This includes providing support during their candidature and giving feedback/consultation to the School of Graduate Research to provide a candidates’ perspective. As an external/online doctoral student, my perspective on this experience is particularly helpful.

2022 – 2024: Associate Lecturer Language and Learning (Murdoch University)

  • Supported students in developing literacy skills. This was facilitated through tiered support including embedded faculty workshops, 1:1 consults and developing generalised skills resources
  • Embedded academic support within postgraduate units (Business and Education) for international students to develop communication skills and academic writing capacity
  • Unit coordinating TLC101 Communication Skills for Undergraduate Studies in Perth and Dubai. Supporting the development of literacy skills for international and NESB students
  • Marking and providing feedback on student assessments in postgraduate and undergraduate units and literacy diagnostic tasks. Collaborating on the development of these assessments

2016 – 2021: School Leader Roles including senior campus coordinator, transitions coordinator and head of faculty

  • Worked with the school executive, the Association for Independent Schools and the Board of Senior Secondary Studies to develop grant applications, building designs and submit registration documentation for the successful registration of Year 11 and 12
  • Determined learning areas, teaching needs, budgeting, and recruitment approaches for inaugural Year 11 cohort in 2021. Developed reporting and assessment processes and policies as well as new curriculum programming approaches for Year 11 and 12 with a unique cohort of vulnerable students
  • Developed and implemented an award-winning work experience program that supported vulnerable and disengaged youth to engage with community organisations and workplaces. Engaging students through authentic learning experiences
  • Supported the Head of Teaching and Learning in developing reporting and assessment processes as well as new curriculum programming approaches, mentoring other staff in these
  • Led the implementation of Google Classroom across all year levels and developed staff, student and family training materials during the pivot to remote learning
  • Worked with the school executive to develop an overarching curriculum policy and a transition model for students progressing into – through – out of the school
  • Acted as Head of Department for Science and ICT faculty managing 12 staff. Facilitated faculty meetings, timetable changes, budgets, casual staff contracts and resolving staff/student and staff/staff conflict
  • Worked alongside executive team to deliver school-wide initiatives including school plan, moderation processes and monitoring curriculum delivery and assessment requirements
  • Scaling, cross-checking, and entering of final student data for all ATAR science courses. Participated in moderation across all ACT colleges in an Acting Group Leader role

2006 – 2016: Various Classroom Teacher Roles

  • Programming, assessment, and delivery of differentiated curriculum across a variety of learning areas (English, Science, HaSS, Work Studies, STEM, LOTE,) for year 2-10 students in government, Catholic and independent schools
  • Programming, assessment and delivery of Year 11/12 ATAR and general Interdisciplinary Inquiry, Connected Learning, English, Business, Economics, Legal Studies, Earth and Environmental Science and Politics and Law
  • Led the implementation of a new ACARA learning area (Auslan) in two school settings for K-10 second language pathway learners
  • Worked with students identified as significantly at risk or with a diagnosed/imputed learning need in trauma informed school settings. Designed engaging, authentic and accessible learning sequences that led to genuine completion of assessment. This included the Archibull Prize, financial literacy programs, community engagement projects, portfolio assessment and low stakes writing programs
  • Mentored future educators through the supervision of pre-service teachers

Volunteer with Sasha (west highland terrier) at local primary school for weekly reading interventions. Students read to Sasha for 20 mins at a time. Perth, WA

Piloted disengaged and vulnerable secondary students reading to dogs and community volunteers once a week. Program continues to operate in Canberra and in 2023 won an ACT volunteering award. Canberra, ACT
